RTJ Athletes Core Beleifs

  • The Holy Trinity: We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit. Each person of the Trinity is fully God, yet distinct in person and role.
    Scriptures: John 14:16-17; Ephesians 4:4-6

  • Jesus Christ as God: We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully God and fully man. Through His life, death, and resurrection, He provides the only way to salvation, revealing the Father to us and accomplishing the work of redemption.
    Scriptures: Philippians 2:5-7; Colossians 2:9

  • Salvation through Faith: We believe that salvation is a gift from God, received by faith alone in Jesus Christ. It is through His sacrifice that we are reconciled to God, not by any works or merit of our own.
    Scriptures: Romans 3:22-24; Galatians 2:16

  • Rebirth by the Holy Spirit: We believe that when a person accepts Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, they are born again by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit transforms them from the inside out, giving them a new heart and empowering them to live according to God's will.
    Scriptures: 2 Corinthians 5:17; Romans 8:9-11
  • The Bible as the Word of God: We believe that the Bible is the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God. It is fully true and serves as the ultimate authority in all matters of faith and practice. Through the Bible, God speaks to us, guiding us in our relationship with Him and in living out His will.
    Scriptures: 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21.

Bible Study Structure

At RTJ Athletes, our 15 minute Bible studies focus on expository teaching, diving into the infallible Word of God. Through prayer, a mentor will select a book of the bible, the studies will be section by section, with each session progressing to the next pericope (selection of verses) of that book. During our time together, we will:

  • Discuss what the Lord may be speaking to us through the passage.
  • Reflect on how we can apply His Word to our lives.
  • Allow the Holy Spirit to transform our hearts, growing us to love God more deeply and love others more fully. (Matthew 22:35-40)
  • Always close in prayer!

Our goal is to nurture spiritual growth, cultivate a deeper relationship with Jesus, and empower athletes to live out their faith daily. We understand that there may be times when an athlete or participant needs to share about present struggles or challenges. If we discern that the need arises, we will emphasize prayer time and fellowship time over a study during our 15-minute session. We are here to love your child, not just to lead a Bible study.

All RTJ Coaches have agreed to abide and uphold these truths while representing RTJ Athletes. Coaches are expected to bring their bible to every training session.
